A Look at the Vintage Guitar Price Index

Data from Vintageguitarprice.com

Musicians, collectors, investors, and dealers who are active in the vintage guitar market should take a look at the price indexes created at VintageGuitarPrice. They’ve built price indexes to track the values for the top collectible guitars of each of the four most prominent manufactures. They also combine the four top guitar companies to create a composite index. Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, and Martin make up the VGP50 – the rarest and sought-after guitars from the other four price indexes.

Heading into 2019, each of the indexes lost value for the prior 12 months. Fender lost value for the 3rd year in a row, the Gibson index fell over 10%, Martin prices dropped slightly, and Gretsch continued its steady decline.
