2019 was a huge year for most asset classes. The Global Market Index posted a hefty 21% gain assisted by U.S. stocks, which recorded an increase of 31%. The massive year for U.S. stocks continues a nice run and brings a return of over 11% per year over the last five years.
Only commodities show negative returns for the trailing five year period. U.S. REITs finished the year returning over 25% and continued performing well, returning 7% per year over the last five years.
